Where the estimate comes from

Where the figures come from

We use published Nigerian salary summaries from MySalaryScale. Workers report their pay. These are averages from those reports, not a survey of every worker in Nigeria.

What the numbers mean

The source calls these net monthly salaries: pay after deductions. It shows rounded figures. Bonuses and other benefits are not added here. Yearly pay is monthly pay times 12. Hourly pay uses your weekly hours and 52 weeks per year.

How fresh is the data?

We checked the source pages on 11 October 2026. They do not show when each salary was reported. Some reports may be old. Checking a page today does not make its salary data new. Compare this with recent job ads and real offers.

How we fill missing results

If there are at least ten direct reports for a national group, we show their reported average. Otherwise we use a related job as a starting point. Our own job, experience and location factors give a rough modelled estimate. You can see those factors under the result. They are assumptions, not measured rates.

Questions about salary in Nigeria

How do I use this Nigeria salary calculator?

Choose a listed job or type any job title. Pick a work group, experience level and location. Results use direct reports where available, or a clearly labelled modelled estimate. You can show monthly, yearly or hourly pay and compare your take-home pay.

Is this gross salary or net salary?

Reported figures are net salaries: money left after deductions. Modelled results use those net figures as starting points, but do not work out your personal deductions. Gross salary is pay before deductions. Compare net pay with net pay.

Does this calculate PAYE tax or my take-home pay?

No. This tool compares reported net salaries and converts pay between time periods. It does not calculate PAYE, pension or other deductions from a gross salary.

Is this the salary I should expect in Lagos or Abuja?

City results are modelled guesses using assumed location factors. They are not measured city averages. Pay can change with the employer, skills and job duties. Check current job ads and real offers in your city too.

Does this cover remote jobs paid in dollars?

No. A foreign employer or client may pay very different rates. These naira salary summaries do not provide a separate benchmark for foreign remote work.

How accurate is the salary estimate?

Reported data can be old or biased. Modelled estimates have low certainty and may be far from actual pay. Every job title can get a rough figure, but that does not mean every role has been studied. Check the label, source and assumptions before using the result.
