By MantaJobs Editorial Team

Your LinkedIn profile has much of the text you need for a CV. It may list your jobs, skills, school, and a short note about you.

You can turn it into a good CV in Nigeria. You still need to check the words, add proof, and shape it for the job you want.

The quick way

  1. Clean your LinkedIn profile.
  2. Save the profile as a PDF on a computer, if the option is available.
  3. Upload the PDF to a CV maker or copy the details into a CV template.
  4. Change the CV for the job you want.
  5. Read every line before you send it.

You can also use the MantaJobs LinkedIn to CV tool to start the process.

Step 1: Clean your LinkedIn profile first

Check your profile before you start. Are your name, email, phone number, and dates right? Check your jobs, school, skills, and links too.

  • Use one clear job title.
  • Write a short About section.
  • Add results to your work history.
  • Remove old or weak skills.
  • Check spelling and dates.

Do not add a skill just because it is popular. Keep skills you can explain in an interview.

Step 2: Save LinkedIn as a PDF

On a computer, open your LinkedIn profile. Choose More or Resources. If you see Save to PDF, select it. Read LinkedIn’s official steps before you start.

LinkedIn says this tool is not on its phone app. It may not be available to all users. Your profile and language settings need to be in English.

If the button is missing, copy your own details into a CV. You can also try the link tool on MantaJobs. Check all the details it brings in.

Step 3: Put the details into a CV

A LinkedIn profile and a CV do not have the same shape. A CV needs a clear order and short points.

  1. Name and contact details
  2. Target job title
  3. Short summary: a few lines about your skills and work
  4. Key skills
  5. Work history
  6. Education and certificates
  7. Projects, volunteer work, or links when useful

Put your newest work first. Use short points. Show what changed because of your work.

Step 4: Turn duties into results

LinkedIn often has long job descriptions. Your CV should use shorter points with proof.

  • Weak: Managed customer service.
  • Better: Answered about 40 customer questions each week and closed most cases in one day.
  • Weak: Worked on social media.
  • Better: Planned 20 posts each month and grew page visits by 30% in six months.

Use real numbers only. If you do not know a number, show the size, time, team, or amount of work you can prove.

Step 5: Change the CV for each job

Your LinkedIn profile can speak to many people. Your CV should speak to one job.

  • Use the job title from the post when it matches your work.
  • Move the most useful skills near the top.
  • Change the summary to fit the role.
  • Show two or three work results that match the job.

What LinkedIn may leave out

A LinkedIn PDF may not show every detail you need. Add these when they help:

  • A link to samples of your work
  • A project with your role and result
  • A certificate name and date
  • Volunteer work that shows useful skills
  • A short list of tools you can use

Common mistakes

  • Sending the LinkedIn PDF without checking it
  • Using a profile link as the only contact detail
  • Keeping a long About section in the CV
  • Adding every LinkedIn skill to the CV
  • Claiming a result you cannot prove
  • Using the same CV for every role

Final check

  • The CV is one or two pages when possible.
  • Your contact details work.
  • Your job title is clear.
  • Your best proof is easy to find.
  • The file name includes your name and target role.
  • The PDF opens well on a phone and computer.

If you are a fresh graduate, add your internship or NYSC work. You can also add a school project. Show what you did and what you learned. Your CV should fit the job you want.
