10 Jobs AI Is Less Likely to Replace Soon in Nigeria

Explore ten jobs in Nigeria that still need care, trust, hands-on work, human judgement, and strong relationships as AI grows.

By MantaJobs Editorial Team

AI can do many tasks. It can write text, read data, answer simple questions, and help people plan work.

Some jobs need a person to care, judge, build, or fix things. AI may help with parts of the work. It may struggle to do the whole job.

No one can promise that a job will never change. These are examples of work that needs people. This is not a tested ranking of safe jobs in Nigeria.

The International Labour Organization studies jobs and work. It says AI is more likely to change many jobs than replace them fully. Read the ILO research.

1. Nurses and patient care workers

Nurses give care, comfort, and close attention. They notice small changes in a patient and act when something is wrong. AI can help with records, but a patient still needs a trained person.

2. Electricians

Electricians work in many buildings and solve problems that are different each time. They use their hands, follow safety rules, and make decisions at the site.

3. Plumbers and repair workers

A broken pipe can sit in a small space, a wet room, or an old building. Plumbers need tools, movement, judgement, and safe work. AI cannot do the physical repair by itself.

4. Early childhood teachers

Young children need care, patience, play, and help with feelings. A teacher builds trust with children and parents. AI can help make lesson ideas, but it cannot replace this human care.

5. Social workers and counsellors

People in hard situations need trust and a safe person to talk to. Social workers and counsellors listen, protect people, and make careful choices. AI can support notes, but the relationship is human.

6. Emergency workers

Firefighters and ambulance teams act when people are in danger. They work at the scene, give care, and make fast choices. AI can help them plan, but people still do the work.

7. Skilled construction workers

Builders, welders, carpenters, and other skilled workers work with real materials in real places. Machines may help them, but people still need to plan, check, fix, and complete the work.

8. Mechanics

Mechanics check and fix cars, bikes, and generators. A machine can help find a fault. A trained worker still needs to test and repair the parts.

9. Solar panel installers

Solar installers work on roofs, wires, panels, and batteries. Each site is different. They need training and safe ways to work. AI can help plan the job.

10. Cooks and chefs

Cooks in homes, hotels, and food shops prepare real meals. They taste food, keep it safe, and meet local needs. AI can suggest a recipe, but a person still needs to cook and serve it.

What this means for your career

Do not choose a job only because it sounds safe from AI. Choose work where you can build useful skills and solve real problems.

  • Learn to use AI as a work tool.
  • Practise clear speaking, writing, and teamwork.
  • Learn how people in your field do their work.
  • Practise hands-on work when the job needs it.
  • Keep proof of your work in a CV or a folder of samples.

These jobs may change too. Learn the new tools used in your field. For hands-on work, look for a trusted trainer or an apprenticeship. That means learning while you work with a skilled person.

Skills AI does not give you by itself

  • Trust and good judgement
  • Care for another person
  • Clear communication
  • Teamwork in a hard moment
  • Safe hands-on work
  • Responsibility for a choice

A simple plan

  1. Choose one work area that interests you.
  2. Learn the main tools and rules for that area.
  3. Use AI to practise, plan, or save time.
  4. Build one real project or gain real experience.
  5. Apply for roles that fit your proof.

AI may change the job market, but useful people skills and real work still matter. Keep learning and keep your CV honest.
